Sybel van Dalen

Learning Support and Special Education Needs Teacher

Sybel is a passionate Learning Support and Special Educational Needs teacher whose lifelong dream has been to support children to discover their strengths to help them reach their full potential. She obtained a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Education and a Post-Graduate degree in Education specializing in Elementary Education and Learning Support (Kindergarten – Grade 3) through the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She joined the Ajyal family in 2019 where she facilitated learning in a Kindergarten classroom and provided continued support to her students with a welcoming environment and a differentiated student-centred curriculum to help her students develop holistically and become critical thinkers and problem solvers.


Sybel is a lifelong learner who is continuously looking for ways to grow and develop both personally and professionally. She has completed courses in Applied Psychology, Attention Deficit Disorders, Autism in the Classroom, Occupational Therapy in the Classroom, Effective Classroom Management and Assertive Discipline, SMART Board Level 1 and 2, Development and Implementation of an Effective Individualized Education Plan and attended various seminars and training in Learning Support. She is fluent in South African Sign Language with a NQF Level 5 Qualification and can also effectively communicate in British and American Sign Language.


Sybel worked as a special education needs and learning support teacher for 5 years at a Deaf and Hard of Hearing school in South Africa from 2014 to 2019. During her time there, she specialized in facilitating a differentiated and creative curriculum through reading and writing in English as a second language, Mathematics, Science and social and emotional development support. She has experience working with a wide range of students from the ages of 6 to 12 and has supported them with learning difficulties and barriers to learning including hearing and visual difficulties, Attention Deficit Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Developmental Delay and Emotional Disorders. She worked closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Child Psychologists and Social Workers to fully support her students and help them develop to their full potential.


Sybel believes in ensuring a safe, welcoming environment in which students are encouraged to learn and grow educationally, emotionally and socially. Her role as a special education teacher will be to encourage the unique learning style of every student and support them with a holistic and collaborative support system where parents, teachers and medical professionals and therapists work together to develop their full potential.
